Seadrift Bay Fishing Reports

We've been seeing a lot of fish prowling around after duck hunts but you'd think we're looking at a mirage with light action on the rods of late.

5 STAR REVIEW: "Just left the lodge riding back to Dallas. I was invited by a buddy last minute and didn't have a clue of what to expect. The days are long but the hunts are just awesome! Slack winds and ultra mild "back to wearing shorts and flip flops" had the guns quieted a bit on early morning puddler shoots only to be replaced by the amber glow of hot barrels and flaming exhausts on the latest cold front. That also sent the fish deep. . . .

This yielded full limits for our guests from Pennsylvania while other guests arriving mid-day managed to take limits of Redheads on an afternoon shoot. We're just so excited to see so many returning faces from all over the Nation.

It looks like Mother Nature may finally be with us and not against us, so here we go. Gadwall, Pintail, Redheads and a light mix of Teal and other species have been dominating the straps. Water levels have pulled back enough to give us some breathing and comfort room but remain higher than we'd like.

Pre front action over mud and grass pockets once again bent the rods hard for guests as Capt. Donnie Heath lit them up using bait lit up the Redfish to 26". I sent out a newsletter the other day telling clients to throw the "seasonal playbook" out the window and that's a great idea. The big cold front has moved a little bit of water out of the bays but we're waiting to "get all excited"

Beyond that we are moving into second gear on construction efforts with the new lodging and additional land acquisitions. Temperature at the lodge is "smoking hot" and we are very blessed business wise. Thank you all SO MUCH!

We've got to get lucky every now and then and the front arrival couldn't have been timed more perfectly. Just add a little cooperation from the birds and everything will be good. The guests had a nice hunt yesterday afternoon taking full Redhead limits on a "Diver shoot".

The ducks and blistering hot fishing pace made up for it, however. We managed a run unseen during the first split with limits coming in for our guests on all hunts.
