Explosive action on schools of Redfish solid and bursting the slot to 32" have come to hand on both artificial lures and live bait. Talk about kicking Septebmer off right! Light Northerly winds and blown up tides seem to be the ticket.
It was a fishing blowout extravaganza with the guides hitting it hard and heavy from South SAB to the surf. From wade fishing to boat fishing the surf, guests managed solid action on Trout to 25" and Redfish beyond the slot.
That's about as close to a "Buck Fever" moment as you can get. He said he eased towards them and began hooking up directing the guests to do the same. With lots of hook-ups the fish submerged but working the sand pockets in that vacinity kept producing solid take downs.
Blistering action over mud/grass in deeper swales in the back lakes surpassed guest expectations on Airboat and Bayboat trips of late. Thursday was a mess as the winds snapped overnight catching some of the guides still hoping for a look at Trout, but those making the switch to Redfish had the best luck. By Friday we were "fully engaged" in Redfish pursuits with memorable results.
The gigging trips are new to some of our guests and it's so rewarding having them return all pumped up. Rick K. fishing with guests of Martin Automotive were just ecstatic about their floundering trip with Capt's Heath and Cady.
We continue to dress out the lodge with more and more eye candy and the flavors of the coast. Signature sauces are now available for guests to take home including 2Donnie's "Killing It Coastal" Sweet N Spicy BBQ Sauce and our Wild Wings & Poultry Sauce that has put our Quail on the map
Ups and downs with Trout still in the cross hairs for wade fishermen. Anglers opting to boat fish have been dealing with various attitudes from the Redfish from aggressive to complacent. Capt. Chris Cady's airboat trip yesterday found lots of Redfish hung up in pockets of the back lakes and ultra shallow.
Alternatively, wade fishermen here at the lodge are just smashing the Trout with Capt. Donnie Heath reporting over 75 fish caught and released with only a handful of undersized fish.
We've got numerous new focal points at the lodge including our massive new indoor dining/conference building capable of seating 40 guests and then there's the Bayou Complex.
Flounder Gigging: We're sticking solid Flounder with guests taking in bay fishing followed by night gigging trips. Guests managed their limit last night sticking a couple of real nice fish along the way.
