Action on the
flats
for solid Redfish has been heating up for fishing guests and clients enjoying "cast & blast"
trips
. We saw a nice influx of birds ahead of the light front that came in Friday evening and into Saturday. Gadwall, Widgeon, Pintail, and a few Teal got the guns barking but it was a short-lived burst as Sunday's action left much to be desired.
Singing drags made for memorable experiences with Redfish pushing the outside of the slot have been coming to hand. Yesterday's trip with longtime guests of Schlumberger found some fairly tight
schools
of fish eager to bend the rods over mud/grass and hanging near grass lines. We beat the weather and managed to stay out of the rain for the most part taking limits with very little pain from the weather.
Duck News
I
watched
a non-stop flow of medium high Pintails pouring across the skies over Matagorda Island but never ran into any birds on the water. This could have been an inflow looking for somewhere to
touch down
and get comfortable. Numbers were impressive after last years light showing of the "long tails" in coastal waters.
Deer Hunting
We've got some solid deer working the feeders and look forward to "buck and duck"
action
with guests over the weekend. We hope you have a good one! Come see us when you get a chance.
