Hurricane Nate may have headed East but it brought us plenty of elevated tides. Capt. Braden Proctor said he went to drop a tie out stake and almost flipped out of the boat because he didn't hit bottom.
Our hearts go out to everyone that was touched by the storm and less fortunate. We came through with some tree damage but all of our people were safe and we didn't have any damage to our facilites.
In discussing the schedule, we still have 09/14, 18, 19, 21, 24, and 26 thru 30th available for hunts at this time. So we've still got some room if you're looking to make a hunt. These trips easily combine with some awesome fishing and wing shooting for early Teal and/or Dove.
Capt. James Cunningham and Capt. Chris Cady bent the boards big time with Kevin's group taking Trout limits and solid numbers of Redfish hitting a window of stable winds late week.
The wind had settled out that morning and decent tides brought greening water over prime structure in perfect timing with the water entry. That led the guests to a barn burner and some heavy fish boxes with board bending smiles to all.
Capt. James Cunningham said "timing was everything and you had to be in the right place at the right time while eyeballing tide catalysts and even waiting on them if necessary".
Combine the challenges of a full moon with a big water fall out and then put a 30 mph wind on top of that and I promise you'll have your hands full figuring that out. When that happens you better hope you're lucky and good!
Slack winds and ultra mild "back to wearing shorts and flip flops" had the guns quieted a bit on early morning puddler shoots only to be replaced by the amber glow of hot barrels and flaming exhausts on the latest cold front. That also sent the fish deep. . . .
The Alexander's made it in on schedule with no problems from AZ for their visit dating back every year for over two decades. We welcomed some new and returning faces as well with eager youngsters and wives in for a first go round with duck hunting. All in all, I just had to step back and admire our Band of Brothers (our team of Guides) and the wonderful spirit of our visitors.
