We Can Either Surf or Ski!

Castaway Lodge Seadrift Report
By Capt. Kris Kelley

Fishing continues strong given the mild temperatures and a little water bounceback heading toward the close of The Texas Duck Season.  Capt. Chris continues to ride the Reds like Zorro scouting again this morning ahead of a trip with Steve Lightfoot spokesman for TPWD and Photographer/Writer with Texas Sporting Journal and guest Roy Biles.  He's been working fallout fish on the low water conditions and there are some absolute bruisers in the bunch.  Capt. James and I burned a stretch of beach returning from a duck trip and the slick glass conditions left the "solids" no place to hide.  Shoulder to shoulder in places led Taylor P. and guest to solid action including upper end Black Drum.

Ducks/Geese/Cranes

The cold front slated for mid-day today has been rescheduled for after duck season, of course.  So we are looking at some nice boogey board weather with maybe even some fog heading to the close of season and that's got us all fired up!  We'll make the best of it and either "surf or ski" our way out of 2013 waterfowl.  Capt. Jake had a great hunt on Cranes taking full limits over decoys which made the trip for the guys.

Taking Names

Goose hunting continues productive and we are heading straight into the conservation season opener on Monday with more guests arriving shortly thereafter.  Extended tubes, plenty of shells, and electronic callers should make for some sore shoulders.

Like us on Facebook and we promise to "love you back"!
